There are two notable wine’s stores in Santiago, Chile: LA CAV and El Mundo del Vino. The specialized staff will help and guide you to ensure a good choice depending on how much money do you wanna spend.
But my suggestions is. Despite these options above, where an expert would help you to buy a good wine, I do recommend to try experiencing that on your own:
1) Make a wine tour, take attention to the guider explanation about the winery’s history, the process and how wines have been producing through the years. And carpe diem the wines’ degustation moment (it is included in the wine tour). At last, but not least, enjoy buying some wine at the end of the tour. That’s a good way to get connected with. When you will open the bottle’s wine weeks, months or even some years later, I guarantee you will have a good flashback. Feelings, sensations, tastes and flavors may run through in your mind!!!
2) Buy wine as Chileans do. There are some small and specialized shops and also supermarkets where Chileans buy their wines. The range of types, grapes and labels available are amazing. From wines sold in “tetra pack box” to gran reserve and premium wines.
The small shop I like the most is located at “Av. Los Conquistadores, 2238, Providencia, Santiago”. You can choose the wines you want or ask for assistance. The staff is very friendly and will pack the wines’s bottles in a safety way to ensure they won’t broke when you flight back home. You don’t need to carry the package because they also delivery it to your hotel for free.
